Today they got a lesson I was taught years ago....

Today I must say, I am one proud momma! My girls are now FULL patrons of the Chicago Public Library system! And that is definitely something BIG to me! Being a huge fan of BOOKS, READING, & STORIES, I was soooo excited that they wanted to go to the library and take out books!

Chicago Public Library's Facebook Page

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this in past blog posts, but my VERY FIRST job as a teenager was at the Harold Washington Library Center. I was a library page. And I couldn't have dreamed of a better job. It put me face-to-face everyday with one of my true loves.... BOOKS!

**BONUS** The City of Chicago is offering amnesty on late & lost books! If you have late fees, they're waving them. If you've lost a book they're only charging you to replace it. I experienced this amnesty today!!! I only owed $0.40, but it was still erased! If you owe the library, get those books BACK and get your FEES ERASED!!! There's NO better time than NOW!!!

SO, on to the lesson... I talked a lot about my love of books & my personal library I had as a child. (click link to read about it) But I don't think this love would have been so deep, so passionate, so much apart of me if it weren't for my mother taking me to the library every Saturday. I think this little trip to the library will begin a lifelong love affair with books for my girls. And this will become a weekly visit for us. They simply fell in love with the Thomas Hughes Children's Library within the Harold Washington Library Center. I hope that their minds continue to thirst for knowledge and their excitement for the written word never leaves them (it surely never left me!)

Until next time,
& Keep on Reading,
