This past week I found out one of my oldest and dearest friends is moving to Northern California.
At first, I was so excited. With her only daughter being 8 months pregnant, this was an awesome, magical thing to do (Her daughter has been in Cali for years now).
But then, (moments later), my vanity hit, and I realized I would be losing a friend here in Chicago.
We didn't see each other a lot. Me being the "busy mom" and her being the retired school teacher/artist/farmer/gardener/cat whisper! *That last one is a joke, but sorta kind true!, we only got together 1-3 times a year, but I tell you, those 1-3 times were always heart felt and soul-reachingly wonderful.
I always left our meetups feeling full and happy. Full not only of delicious food, but full of hope, peace, and serenity that only a true friend can give you.
Yes, Ginger (you) will be missed!!!

So, naturally, we spoke a little bit about the trip, and we both filled each other in on what's been going on these past few months, and I hung up the phone feeling very OK with the situation.
She will be OK.
Life will be OK.
And now, I'll have a place I can visit someday.
A few years ago, I lost another BBF to the Cali life-style, My Sister. But, I can honestly say, the move was the best decision she ever made.
So, I guess Cali is the Land of Gold, Opportunity, Change, & where 2 of my 4 Best friends now live!!!
