This was one of the easiest Easter's I've ever been a part of. And it's all thanks to a bit of preparation and using past trials & errors to know what to do!

It has become the norm to celebrate Easter at my aunt's house. Me & the girls go to church with her, go back to her house, and then cook. It has become sort of a tradition.
This Easter we celebrated with 7 am church service and dinner around 3 pm. (YAY to early dinners!!!) My kind of day! We enjoyed pot roast with white potatoes & carrots (yum), corn pudding, collard greens, corn bread, and Carrot Cake for dessert! It was definitely a yum-fest at my aunt's house.

The girls really enjoyed themselves as well. We don't dye Easter Eggs or anything. (I stopped that "tradition" after the first year we did it) No one ever ate the eggs and I noticed the girls didn't care one way or the other if eggs were in their baskets... so why not rid ourselves from having to buy vinegar and those little kits?
My grandmother (who raised me; "momma" as I call her) has started a little tradition of giving the girls small gifts to add to their baskets, as opposed to buying them secondary baskets. And I must say, my girls love this idea, as do I. I'm not big on giving them candy, mostly because of my current troubles with my teeth are a direct result of my early candy eating days, not to mention it's horrible for their health.

The baskets I buy are pre-made and come with mostly toys and a small amount of candy (usually 3-4 pieces). I buy them 1-2 pieces of candy and my momma always gets them chocolate bunnies. This year momma bought them 2 things they really wanted. She got my oldest daughter a basket ball (she a HUGE sports fan) & my youngest received a My Little Pony set. They loved their gifts. We had a wonderful day. After dessert, I took the girls down to my aunt's huge communal patio. They blew bubbles and my oldest bounced her ball all around. The wind drove us back indoors, but I believe that time outdoors was the highlight of their Easter.
